Corpus Christi, (Latin, Body of Christ), festival of the Catholic Church honours the real presence of Christ in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Established by Pope Urban IV in 1264, the feast falls on the first Sunday after Trinity.
The Doncaster Deanery holds an annual ‘Corpus Christi Procession’ through the Town on the afternoon on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
This year, on 23rd June we had a wonderful Corpus Christi Procession. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day a tremendous occasion. Many people worked hard behind the scenes, with music, flowers, teas, stewarding, setting things up as well as other jobs. Thank you to all who gave their time and energy. There was a wonderful representation from the Polish Community. It was also great to see the Parishes from around the Doncaster Deanery represented.
