The Ordination of Deacon Henry Woodhouse

The Ordination of Henry Woodhouse, one of our own parishioners, will take place on Saturday 9th July 2022 beginning at 12noon. Following the service refreshments will be provided in the Parish Hall. This will be a wonderful memorable occasion for us all to celebrate. What is even more special and unique is that Bishop Ralph will celebrate Henry’s Ordination here at St Peter’s, rather than at St Marie’s Cathedral, which would be the Diocese tradition.

The Parish is busy making preparations to ensure this will be a day to remember. We anticipate a large will be in attendance, with many travelling by car. The Church car park, and adjoining grassed are likely to be insufficient for the demand. We would therefore suggest, where possible, that attendees consider car sharing or public transport if viable. Also please ensure that you arrive early so everyone can be accommodated in the Church prior to the commencement of the service at 12noon, suggest that attendees aim to arrive in good time and be seated by 11.30. We would also recommend visitors to make contingency plans, if on arrival our car park is full, to park elsewhere, in one of the City Centre car parks nearby. Details of two possibilities are displayed below, along with Doncaster Council’s own City centre car park map.

As a Parish we have decided to pray five decades of the Rosary each day of the month leading up to Henry’s ordination and during the month following. This began on Thursday, 9th June. The intention is that a different family/ parishioner will pray for him each day. On Fridays the prayers will be said in the Church at 11.30am. For people who live locally a ‘signing-in’ sheet, to join the prayer rota is on the wall in the Sacristy. There are still some days remaining that need to be filled.   Please, even if you haven’t signed –in pray for him. More than anything else he needs our prayers as he begins his life as a Priest, we ask everyone to join us in that endevour.
