The Ordination of Henry Woodhouse

[Updated 25.June 2022. ]

It is with great pleasure that we look forward to the ordination of Deacon Henry Woodhouse on Saturday 9th July at 12 noon.

Deacon Henry’s Ordination Preparation. There is still an opportunity for you to get involved – a few more stewards assisting on the day would be helpful. Please consider volunteering. In particular we need people to help erect the gazebos, this would begin around 9.00am, to allow them to be up and ready in time for the celebrations to come.

On the Day: we expect there to be a very large number of people attending the event, with many travelling by car. The Church car park, and adjoining grassed area is likely to be insufficient for the demand. We suggest, where possible, that attendees consider car sharing or using public transport. In addition it would be wise to make contingency plans if when you arrive the Church car park is full. Some alternative car parks, with location maps are suggested on the Parish’s website’s Ordination page. Please ensure that you arrive early, it would be ideal if everyone is settled in their seats by 11.30am, prior to the Mass at 12noon. Following the Ordination everyone is invited to refreshments in the Parish Hall. This again, due to the expected numbers in attendance, will require careful management to ensure that people are served as speedily and efficiently as possible. Please and have patience and follow the guidance/ advice of our stewards.

There is some street parking in front of the church and local car parks on Chequer Road and around the CAST theatre and police station – they are all ‘pay and display’.

We do hope you can join us to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

Prayers for Deacon Henry: As a Parish we have decided to pray five decades of the Rosary each day of the month leading up to and each day of the month following to Henry’s ordination. This began on 9th June. The intention is that a different family/ parishioner will pray for him each day. On Fridays the prayers will be said in the Church at 11.30am. The ‘signing-in’ sheet, to join the prayer rota is on the wall in the Sacristy. There are still some days remaining that need to be filled.   Please, even if you haven’t signed –in pray for him. More than anything else he needs our prayers as he begins his life as a Priest.
